Employment Jobs, Job vacancies, Employment
Going to a new job is almost similar to a child starting to go to school. Of course, the difference is that there will not be any orientation given to the child. The child automatically and slowly starts getting used to the atmosphere in the school. But, you may be getting some sort of training to have the 'feel' of the job.
When you go to a new job, there may not be other new people who may give you immediate company. The situation is different because those who are already in the office have already established relationships among themselves. You may not really know the topography of the office nor will you know whom to ask. Perhaps, the best person who may help you in this situation is the office attendant. Since you also do not know who the ring leader in the office is, you will have to wait patiently and observe who wields more power and guides people. These things are extraneous to the work you will be doing in the office but they can not be brushed aside as unimportant things.
The best way is to take a gap between jobs. You can take a time gap of about two weeks after you relinquish the previous job and before you join the new one. These two weeks can be spent for doing research about the company you are going to join, their products, their systems, philosophies, their office culture, the set-up that prevails there and so on. You should know all you can know about the new boss. You can know more about the new office through some of your friends who may have some sort of contacts with the office. If you can get yourself introduced to some one in the new office through some of your friends, you will start feeling easy when you start attending the office.
Another benefit this period offers is that you will be able to separate your mind from the ambiance that prevailed in your previous work place. Whether you had excellent relationship with people of that office or not, you might have developed an affinity for the work place. This is because the time you usually spend in the office is far more than the time you spend elsewhere. You may have got used to that atmosphere and hence it is necessary that you come out of that mentally also.
The other things you should plan is to decide what to wear on the first day of your attending the new office, the shortest and easiest route you should take to reach the office on time and so on. You should not physically and emotionally get exhausted by taking a long and difficult route.
These points are not exhaustive. They are just some simple points you should bear in mind so that things are easy when you attend your new office.
